Our Monthly Marcel

It's a new month, and so time for a new monthly Marcel . . .

"But certain favourite roles are played by us so often before the public and rehearsed so carefully when we are alone that we find it easier to refer to their fictitious testimony than to that of a reality which we have almost entirely forgotten."

Marcel Proust, IN SEARCH OF LOST TIME

  1. I have a Proust: Remembrance of Things Past II, but have been scared to start. It's really a chunkster.

  2. Oh you should do it! But maybe try and start at the beginning, with Vol 1. If you are going to do it, it is a big undertaking, and you may as well start at the top - it's an account of his whole life over about 3000pgs . . .

  3. Nice quote, Sarah! Instead of reading Proust's book, I am reading your 'Monthly Marcel' and I am enjoying it and learning from it. Thanks for this series :)
